MCP Environmental commenced asbestos refurbishment and demolition surveying for the 3,000 sqm former Polestar Petty printing factory in Leeds City Centre.
The derelict site included a mix of warehouses, press halls and reel stores that required surveying prior to refurbishment and demolition with some of the buildings extensively fire damaged.
The refurbishment and demolition survey included surveying external and internal areas utilising a Mobile Elevated Working Platform (WEMP) to inspect the buildings working at heights in excess of 30 feet. Task lighting and a mobile generator were required to inspect the site as it didn’t have power.
A qualified lift engineer was required on site to ensure the lift shaft was safe prior to inspection by MCP P402 qualified asbestos surveyors to assess for the presence of any Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) and where located to assess the ACM for damaged or disturbance.
Asbestos samples were dispatched for laboratory analysis with a comprehensive survey report and updated management plan sent to the client.
