MCP Environmental secured non-licensed and licensed asbestos removal works following a mini tender to work within a sheltered accommodation site.
The accommodation encompasses 40 flats providing sheltered housing for senior citizens over 55 years olds.
The refurbishment of the site required removal of asbestos floor tiles, Asbestos in Board (AIB) door headers and Asbestos thermal insulation within the plant and boiler room which was common during this construction period.
The works involved the use of a high-pressure Quill Falcon Kwikblast system which removes encapsulated asbestos thermal insulation debris with recycled glass and sand ballast from the boiler and plant room.
Communication was safety critical with MCP liaising with health and safety and asbestos officers at all key stages.
Tight timescales required the works to be completed within stringent timescales due to the displacement of vulnerable residents to nearby respite facilities.
MCP Asbestos Services Director – Paul Bates said: “We manage many social and sheltered housing asbestos projects. It’s paramount that the residents wellbeing remains at the very heart of our service delivery ethos.”
